Using FAKE Greenery Outside!

If you struggle to keep plants alive, this post is for you!

I will be the first person to tell you that I cannot keep plants alive. Not even for a week. If you too have a black thumb, you will appreciate this post.

We have lived here six years and I have killed every plant that has (shortly) lived on our front porch. I knew there had to be an alternative. Then it hit me- fake greenery-duh!

This porch refresh is still a work in progress. With Fall creeping up on me this is my first step to getting our porch fall ready.

Supplies:
-galvanized buckets
-soil, rocks
-fake greenery picks
-drill (with split point bit)

Grab a simple galvanized bucket. You can find one at Hobby Lobby, Wal-Mart, or Amazon.

Drill holes into the bottom of your bucket. This will ensure that the bucket doesn’t hold any water when it rains.

I found rocks around our yard to add to the bucket. This will give it some weight to make sure it doesn’t blow over. We live in Oklahoma- where the wind come sweeping down the plains (Ha!).

I used 4 boxwood picks then inserted them into a floral foam block.

Place the foam block and boxwood picks into the galvanized bucket. To make it look a little more realistic, I added potting soil to the bucket. This also gives it a little extra weight.

There you have it! A plant that will last year round and is impossible to kill. I have used several different pots and greenery picks to add fake plants to my front porch. So simple and low maintenance! What are you waiting for? Spruce up your porch today!
